Mills Fitchet’s Johannesburg office has successfully grown under the directorship of William Hewitt since 1990. What started as humble beginnings has grown to a team of 4 valuers and administrative personnel with valuations being undertaken countrywide as well as in neighbouring countries.


The branch is B-BEE Level 2 compliant and contributes to Hope World Wide South Africa, a non-profit organization serving vulnerable children, households and communities since 1993. We also provide sponsorship and training to Candidate Valuers studying and working towards becoming Professional Valuers.

The branch has established relationships with a number of major companies and parastatals across Southern Africa.  Some of the larger instructions comprise the V&A Waterfront, Melrose Arch, Tyger Valley Shopping Centre, Loch Logan Waterfront, Fourways Mall, Mamelodi Shopping Centre, Cedar Square, Lanseria International Airport, Nelson Mandela Trust, Netcare hospitals, Clinix hospitals, Medicross clinics and Namibian airports, fishing enterprises, harbours, universities and abattoirs.


Whilst all valuations have previously been compliant, we welcome the advancement of international standards and have embraced the opportunity to partner with auditing firms to satisfy the client’s needs.


The internationally recognised Cougar discounted cash flow software package, which is a growing requirement of the listed sector in South Africa, is utilised when required.

William Hewitt

Managing Director, Professional Valuer

William is a Professional Valuer and a Fellow Member of the South African Institute of Valuers where he served as chairman. William embarked on his career within municipal valuation departments and was thereafter head of Valuations at Syfrets Trust Limited for 10 years.

With 44 years of experience in the valuation industry, spanning across multiple disciplines; William has long-standing associations with a number of major local and neighbouring corporations, which attests to his integrity, professionalism and dedication to the profession.

William draws on the expertise within the Mills Fitchet group to provide reputable and independent valuations.

Philip Niesing

Professional Valuer

B Art Hons (Town & Regional Planning), MSc (Real Estate), SACPVP, MSAIV

Philip has 6 years’ experience in the property valuation industry in South Africa, prior to which he worked as a qualified Town Planner in the United Kingdom for 8 years. In 2017 he achieved a Master’s Degree in Real Estate at the University of Pretoria. Philip has since been invited on an ad hoc basis as a guest speaker at the Department of Construction Economics. Apart from Philip’s UK working experience, he has also worked in other fields in numerous countries, including Israel, Switzerland, Botswana and South Korea.

Philip has been responsible for the valuation of numerous income producing properties for various purposes, including financial reporting, purchase and sale considerations, insurance valuations, rental determinations, IFRS, development opportunities, etc.

Philip is adept in all valuation approaches and methodologies, including the Discounted Cash Flow Method, Profit Method, the Depreciated Replacement Cost Method and the Development Approach. He has undertaken numerous valuations of large property portfolios for listed funds and has been involved in the valuation of amongst others hospital portfolios, commercial (retail, offices and industrial) portfolios, airports, silos, hotels and major township developments.

Sindiswa Myataza

Director, Client Relations and Management

Sindiswa Myataza has 15 years of experience in managing and servicing various customer accounts in the public and private sector. Prior to joining the Mills Fitchet early in 2018, Sindiswa managed numerous key clients on behalf of Umpetha Holdings, Masana Technologies, Emerson Network Power and Altech Namitech.

Sindiswa’s experience, skills and personality provide the required facilitation to improve Mills Fitchet’s customer retention and the development of new opportunities.
